Back to Reality

Getting back into the swing of training post NFL combine has been a bit of an adjustment, but Iā€™m excited for the new projects and groups Iā€™ll be working with.

The first group being our NFL off season group. Itā€™s so crazy to think that a most of the guys who come back to us every off season are guys that we worked with during their combine process.

As soon as combine prep training ends, NFL veterans start their speed work back up.

Groups change in number every year because the guys start buying houses and getting married and having kids, which is a very proud moment for coaches and trainers.

Another group I just started working with is a high school football team here in Orange County, California. We just had our first session with them last week that consisted of some baseline testing and foundational/technical work.

Iā€™m super excited to turn this group up!

The Business Side

Last week I had an amazing webinar with one of the trainers in our membership group who owns a training facility in Atlanta.

I have been following her for a while now and I wanted to give my members an in-depth perspective from not only the private sector side, but from someone who has grown and owns her own business and space.

One particular piece that I took away was about how much overhead you have when you own your own facility, and how important it is to always keep different offerings in rotation during your not-so-busy times.

For example in fall when football is back in season and things slow down a bit for trainers, rent doesnā€™t.

So, she is able to not only oversee other trainers, but continue revenue by utilizing resources like batting cages, weight room, and small group classes.

Iā€™ve worked in gyms and have experienced my fair share of ā€œfigure-it-out-ednessā€ when fall rolls around, but it was great to get another opinion from someone who has been in this business for 15 years and has been successful doing it.

Badass Female Spotlight

With all of this being said, I wanted to shine some light on Lily this week for anyone who hasnā€™t heard of her or may be looking for some great content to follow.

I probably first came across Lilyā€™s instagram 4 or 5 years ago as I started being more involved in the football side of training and immediately was drawn toward her content.

Lily is probably under 5ā€™5ā€ but has an enormous presence amongst NFL, MLB, NBA, and college level athletes.

Her company is called DSA training which stands for Dynamic Speed and Agility located just outside of Atlanta.

She first got started interning and learning under some great coaches including Tony Villani and Matt Gates, and eventually ventured into her own lane where she started renting space and training her own clientele.

Since then, she has expanded to an incredible facility with a variety of trainers and athletes and continues to make a name for herself, and other women in the private sector.

It was great connecting with Lily and having her share some of her insight on our webinar, if youā€™re looking to get access to this webinar along with many others ā€” sign up for the membership HERE.
