šāāļøSpeed camps, your new favorite book, one woman you NEED to know
Whatās up yāall? Cici here.
First, thank you all so much for the support in my first week of launch. I appreciate ALL feedback, good & bad, so please donāt hesitate to reach out!
TONIGHT I have my first webinar for More Her Speedā¦ Iāll be talking through programming, answering questions, and interacting with this new community. So excited! Sign up here and I will see you there. Bring a notebook.
What I'm working on
This summer we have been running speed camps ALL around the nation (check out the tour here). Events are an amazing way to create a community in areas that we donāt usually train, so being on tour has been a crazy fun experience for the team.
Our camps usually have:
a testing block
a technical/application section
a group speed game to make the experience fun, but also transferable.
A huge difference in our programming has come from GAMIFYING the experience for the athlete, while still being able to expose them to the stimulus we want. This also creates more variability and presents more game-like situations for them to be prepared for.
What Iām Reading
In my opinion, reading is the most accessible cheat code to continued education. I recently finished a book called āIt Takes What it Takes,ā and it is a great resource for mental preparation and dealing with high intensity scenariosā¦ Scenarios that us performance coaches know all too well š.
The author, Trevor Moawad, worked very closely with Russell Wilson as well as a large number of top college programs and athletes.
Three things I took away from this book:
How to create a plan for when things go wrong
The importance of remembering how you felt when things were going right
How important it is to create a PLAN for your goals in general
It is hard to have success or achieve your goals without a roadmap of how to get there. Iāve filled a lot of pages in notebooks and Iāve (slowly/gradually/with obstacles) done everything I wrote that I was gonna do.
Did the path to some of those goals change? Absolutely. But that was part of the process and I wouldnāt change it.
SPOTLIGHT: Arianna Luther
Someone who I had the pleasure of meeting when we were in Miami a few months ago is Arianna Luther, who is a strength coach at University of Miami.
She has been sharing a lot of really great content lately, including some effective plyo work that we incorporate in our programming. She also creates some incredibly motivational training reels. Arianna is a great resource for everything strength and fitness, and is someone I suggest everyone taps in with.
Inspiration for the week
āGo for broke.ā
How you do anything is how you do everything. When the stakes are high, and we donāt rise to the occasion, we fall to the level of our preparation.
Put everything on the line this week. Donāt be afraid to go after what you want.
Appreciate yāall,
Cici
