🏃‍♀️ Showing up for your athletes and a data hack game changer

Show up for your athletes

Welcome back y’all. Football off-season always feels like it lasts an eternity but here we are with a little over a week until my high school kids hit the field for their first game of the season and I’m already arguing with them about whose games I’m going to be at.

And though I say that in a joking manner, representation really matters to these kids. That’s where you build the buy-in and build the culture and build the relationships. They know if you’re not at their game, I promise they’re looking!

Go to the games, go to the graduations, go to the practices. Show up for them and they’ll show up for you!

Data Hack that’s a Game Changer!

One huge addition to my schedule has been more on the educational side, but for anyone looking to get more familiar with Google Sheets and how to use it to manage data- THIS IS FOR YOU.

Adam Virgile, who is the man of Google Sheets and creating dashboards, came out with a course on How to Build an Athlete Monitoring System. I have spent the last few days diving into this and creating some dashboards of my own.

If you opened up my Google Sheets you would get anxiety, for real, so going through step by step as he goes through the course and using some of the data I already have to create profiles and leaderboards has been super beneficial.

I’m still not quite up to par on my proper use of equations and syntax, but I’m on my way! I started with using some basic data that I already had like CMJ Jump Height and Max Speed, and combining that with a sample wellness questionnaire and I’ve already gotten some really useful insight out of it.

Adam Virgile has a ton of courses and free content- I highly recommend checking out some of his stuff if you’re a coach that manages and houses data. Game changer.
