šŸƒā€ā™€ļøGetting feedback from your athletes is KEY

No more working out of my car šŸ™‚Ā

Hey friends! Thank you as always for tuning in and catching up- and hopefully taking something away from these newsletters. This week has been filled with lots of planning for our upcoming academy in San Diego.

For those who donā€™t know we just opened up shop with our Performance Center in San Diego, CA! This was such a huge step for us as we have been so used to living and working out of our cars, so having a place we can call home in one of our hot spots is MASSIVE.

We are kicking off our Performance Center launch with a 6 week Speed Academy starting September 4th. This is for middle school and high school athletes and will be run twice a week for all sports.

If you know any athletes that would be a good fit for this or any sport coaches you think could benefit from this academy, weā€™ve put a lot of effort and planning into making this a great experience for all athletes.

Below is the link for more information on the academy and Performance Center, and we will also have some drop in session availability as well:

Best way to get feedback from your athletes

I got a good amount of questions from my last newsletter regarding what kind of systems I use to monitor wellness and fatigue and what Iā€™m actually able to implement with my groups.

The truth is- it is hard to implement at any level, and even harder the bigger the group gets. More specifically, unless you are able to streamline the collection and get a consistent response rate from all of the athletes then it hardly makes sense to collect.

Now, that doesnā€™t mean donā€™t check in with your athletes or if they are noticeably fatigued it probably isnā€™t the best day for high intensity top speed work. But I use the warm up portion of my sessions to check in with athletes and that will generally dictate some of my programming for that day.

But with groups that I actually have the ability to implement this with and actually have the ability to intervene if necessary- itā€™s great. Not only does it allow me to connect with the athletes and continue gaining trust, but it gives them something to be accountable for and especially at the high school level that gives them more reason to do it.

I use a simple Google Form that is just a handful of questions based around soreness, perception of effort, sleep, and mood. If their wellness is consistently down throughout the week and it is not intended or pre-planned, then it becomes a topic of conversation with the coaches as well as a change in programming from my side.

The collection on Google Forms is great as it takes their responses and automatically transfers it to a Google Sheet for you- the problem usually just comes from them filling it out or not. But thatā€™s where a coach's influence can come into play. They know that if it gets sent out and they donā€™t fill it out, the next session with me will not be fun.

If anyone has any other questions on this or even would like a sample Google Form please let me know, Iā€™m happy to help!
