🏃‍♀️ 29 hours in Dallas…

We make plans, and God laughs.

What’s up y’all? Cici here.

Welcome back to More Her Speed, a weekly no-BS newsletter all about women in coaching.

Plan B > Plan A

This weekend the team and I had the opportunity to travel to Dallas for a lacrosse event. Lacrosse is an amazing sport for speed, but even though the event didn’t go as planned…

The trip exceeded our expectations ten fold.

Les and I spent the first two months of the year in Dallas for NFL draft prep and it was one of the best experiences of my life (as a coach and as a person).

I had never lived out of state before, and never had that big of an opportunity as a coach.

I was able to lead the combine group by myself and when I look back at my biggest growing moments as a coach, that takes the cake.

To be at Sports Academy again this weekend… connecting and meeting with the staff and coaches that we worked with… was very nostalgic.

It also gave us a great framework for how we’re going to set up this year’s draft prep class.

We also made new connections and got to spend some time at TCU thanks to Kyle Bolton and the staff over there.

Kyle brought us into the football practice and the weight room and we were able to pick everyone’s brains and share ideas which is the best thing you can do as a coach.

BIG SHOUT OUT TO KYLE BOLTON - Appreciate you family!

Back in Cali now for the holidays. We've got a BIG event coming up in partnership with the Premier Lacrosse League. This is for all the lacrosse players out there.

Come learn lacrosse from two of the greatest players on earth and learn speed from me and my team... TAP IN HERE!

T C YOU Should Check This Out

Speaking of TCU.. the performance staff over there is incredible.

Check out this tweet from one of the Sports Scientists over at Stat Sports who provided some data on the top speed performers over the last ten games.

Talking to Kyle and the team about how they use GPS data to back and provide context for training was super valuable for our team and showed the success of their training this year.

As of January, TCU got some great additions to the performance staff and I think their work is showing for itself.

When I asked everyone what their secret sauce is, everyone said “NUTRITION!”

I have never heard an entire staff credit so much to that factor.

But it’s true, the emphasis they put on fueling the guys before and during practice was second to none.

It was awesome for us to visit a college practice because we don’t get that type of exposure often.

Their communication, attention to detail, and sense of urgency that they put into every aspect of their program was something we can all take away.

This trip was short, but so sweet.. 29 hours short to be exact.

But it’s not often that most of our team is all in one place with everything going on.

But the time we all spent together combined with the people we connected with in that short amount of time made it my favorite trip this year (and I’ve been on 26 trips this year).

A solid team is the cheat code to a successful business.
